McConnell Admits to Disappointed Conservatives That Obama Did NOT Order IRS Tea Party Probes

Addressing the conservative think tank American Enterprise Institute this Friday, Mitch McConnell delivered a substantively different speech than he did a year ago, when he railed against the supposed anti-free speech administration of Barack Obama.
To a room of undoubtedly disappointed conservatives, McConnell acknowledged that the recent much-ballyhooed actions of the IRS did not have any connections to the White House.

‘Spanking for Jesus’ movement lets God-fearing husbands feel good about punishing their wives

The right wing crazy continues....

What happens when you combine Fifty Shades of Grey with fundamentalist Christianity? “Spanking for Jesus” — or a movement known as Christian Domestic Discipline. The alternative lifestyle fell into the media spotlight on Wednesday thanks to The Daily Beast and Jezebel.
Both publications detailed the household arrangement, in which men dominate women using divinely-approved spankings. It sounds like a crude parody, but The Daily Beast estimates that thousands of couples have actually embraced the Christian Domestic Discipline way of life.
Two websites devoted to Christian Domestic Discipline both emphasize the absolute power of a husband over his wife, a situation that is purportedly supported by biblical teachings.

Darrell Issa: Witch-Hunting FAILURE!

A self-described conservative Republican at the IRS was the first person to single out a Tea Party-affiliated group’s non-profit status application for extra scrutiny. No wonder Issa refused to release them transcripts!

GOP Rep. Says Schools Should Have Classes That Teach Kids ‘Traditional’ Gender Roles

In a speech delivered on the floor of the US House of Representatives, Rep. Phil Gringrey (R-GA) insulted American women, LGBT, and single parents by claiming that America should return to traditional values by mandating that boys and girls take classes on traditional gender roles in a marriage because there are some things fathers do “maybe a little bit different” than mothers.
“You know, maybe part of the problem is we need to go back into the schools at a very early age, maybe at the grade school level, and have a class for the young girls and have a class for the young boys and say, you know, this is what’s important,” Gingrey said in a speech supporting the Defense of Marriage Act.

A random economic post.

The auto industry bailout saved two American car manufacturers, as well as tons of jobs: http://prospect.org/article/unpopular-successful-auto-bailout

Rmoney said we should just let the auto companies go bankrupt and then let them rebuild. What that fellah failed to explain is where the money would come from to rebuild bankrupt GM and Chrysler. There wasn't enough dough available, outside of government dough, to do that. Rmoney's argument is moot anyhoo, as now, both GM and Chrysler have returned to profitability. We can debate why, but what's done is done.

And of course TARP saved the economy, even if most of us feel that it would have been "justice" for greedy bankers to have failed (which of course, would have cost jobs of regular working stiffs and hastened our economic collapse):
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704324304575307071188294124.html

To have allowed banks to simply fail would have cost us a fortune. You haven't seen economic collapse like you would if the US banking system ever totally cratered. We were on the verge of a total US financial collapse and I will defer to the large numbers of economists who feel that TARP was the right thing to do. Some economists argue that if TARP had been bigger, we'd have recovered faster than we are now. Be that as it may, TARP is a done deal.

The biggest goal we should have now is to enact stronger banking safeguards to prevent the greed that nearly killed the US economy, (even tho' members of a certain political party whose name I won't mention beyotche all the time about too many regulations on bidness) and work to create jobs.

Many argue that eliminating the restraints of regulation on bidnesses will create jobs. That's not exactly right. See, bidnesses don't need to create jobs unless there are customers lining up to buy more of their products than they can produce using existing employees. Until consumers are able to buy stuff, employers will not hire additional workers. Ask yourself, why would employers hire additional workers if they were not needed? The question is, how do you get consumers to spend on new stuff? Well, they need more dough. And they need to know they have secure jobs so they can spend that additional dough on new stuff without worrying that they'll need that dough to get themselves through a period of unemployment.

I've said for a long time that we need to have a consumer stimulus. Somehow we have to get more dough to consumers so they'll buy the stuff they have been putting off buying, which **should** cause employers to hire more workers to meet the increased demand. It is reported that American workers have maxed-out on productivity, so if employers want to make dough by meeting the increased demand of more peeps wanting to buy their stuff, then they'd pretty much have no choice but to hire more workers.

My idea of a consumer stimulus is to defer taxes on everyones' first $60K of income. Rich or not rich, all would get that tax break. Taxes would resume at current levels for income over $60K. This would be a temporary tax break, say a couple years. Unlike the Bush tax cut, which was weighted to the wealthy, this tax break would most greatly benefit the middle class, who are the real consumers in our society. And, unlike the Bush tax cut, I would recommend that this tax break be evaluated every 6 months to see if consumer spending and employment were actually going up. If it works, great. If it don't work, end the program after one year.

I doubt if Our Betters™ would like my plan, because they make out like bandits whether our economy is good or bad. They benefit with cheep labor under our current system. The rest of us suffer. And that's a real crock a shytte.

North Korea Rockets 'Ready To Hit US Bases'

Here.

North Korea 'burning with hatred' for US after stealth bomber missions

"How can we pardon the Yankees who hatched even a sinister plot to defame the supreme dignity, which we regard dearer than our own lives, not content with staging madcap nuclear war drills?" Cha Ok Chol, a Korean People's Army officer said according to the Korean Central News Agency.

An editorial put out by the KCNA described "hideous politically-motivated terrorism of the US and the South Korean puppet forces targeting the dignified social system in the DPRK".

North Korea also stated on Thursday it planned to "sweep away" America's Andersen Air Force Base on Guam, according to KCNA.

Earlier on Thursday, US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel told his South Korean counterpart that Seoul could rely on all the military protection the United States has to offer – nuclear, conventional and missile defence.

US sends nuclear-capable B-2 bombers to South Korea in show of force

SEOUL, South Korea — The U.S military says two nuclear-capable B-2 bombers have completed a training mission in South Korea amid threats from North Korea that include nuclear strikes on Washington and Seoul.

The statement Thursday by U.S. Forces Korea is an unusual confirmation. It follows an earlier U.S. announcement that nuclear-capable B-52 bombers participated in ongoing U.S.-South Korean military drills.

The U.S. says the B-2 stealth bombers flew from a U.S. air base and dropped munitions on a South Korean island range before returning home. The announcement will likely draw a strong response from Pyongyang. North Korea sees the military drills as part of a U.S. plot to invade and becomes particularly upset about U.S. nuclear activities in the region.

Washington and Seoul say they the annual drills are routine and defensive.

Slick, Paranoid Tea Party Video Aims for Violent Insurrection

Attendees at last week’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) were reportedly thrilled by a short sci-fi video depicting a dictatorial near-future government and the underground "Movement on Fire" that springs up to resist it. The video, a thinly veiled advertisement for violent insurrection from the “Tea Party Patriots" group, boasts professional acting and Hollywood production values. But underneath its bright, professional sheen lurk dark overtones of End Times paranoia that will resonate with millions of American fundamentalists. Its apocalyptic imagery is as ancient as Revelations, its glossy look as modern as a Revlon ad, and its near-subliminal barrage of rapid-cut imagery rings with the terror-fueled sermons of 1,000 preachers.

Here's the video:

Would you believe me if I told you I knocked out Mike Tyson fair and square?

From Lawrence Jones:
What if I told you that I knocked out Mike Tyson when he was in his prime or that when Jordan was in his prime I crossed him up and then dunked in his face; most of you would say "maaan" get the hell out of here with that nonsense!! Still more of you would want some type of proof that I actually did the things that I say I did! And that's perfectly understandable!! So why can't we apply that same standard to Republicans when they talk about the debt, deficits and the economy!
The two worst economic upheavals in US history happened under Republican presidents; "The Great Depression" under Hoover and the "Great Recession" under Bush! In both cases it took a Democratic president to come in and clean up the mess left behind! Ronald Reagan by the time he was finished had tripled the national debt and Bush squandered a budget surplus and doubled the national debt from 5 to 10 trillion dollars!
The GOP has absolutely NO CREDIBILITY when it comes to the economy or fiscal responsibility! Where is the proof to the contrary!!?? In fact, there's a ton of proof not including what I've already given you to support the exact opposite position; and that is the GOP doesn't know what they're talking about!! That's why it amazes me whenever I see a repub congressman or senator on CNN or FOX news trying to lecture the president on the economy or fiscal responsibility! It's really laughable when you think about it! All of sudden teabaggers and the GOP are deficit hawks and experts on how to fix the economy! I expect that one of the conservative arguments will be that president Obama has spent so much more money than Bush and that's why they're so alarmed now! For the sake of argument let's say that's true; it's not, but let's pretend that it's factual! Guess who was the biggest spender of all time prior to Obama?? You guessed it, Bush! Bush burned through money quicker than any president before him and accumulated at the time record debt and deficits! So if being the biggest spender of all time was the tipping point, where was all that GOP outrage during the Bush years!!?? Where was the teabagger rallies!!?? Bush was the biggest spender up until Obama if we are to believe what the GOP has been telling us! And for the record President Obama has actually reduced the annual federal deficit by billions of dollars! Trust me when I say you'll never hear that on FOX News!
The economy is slowly recovering and if we want to keep momentum and accelerate job creation; the very last thing we need to be doing is listening to the folks who have no track record (proof) whatsoever to support their claim that they're the party of fiscal responsibility and economic growth and whose policies wrecked the economy in the first place!!

WTF, Kim???

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was the target of a recent assassination attempt, says South Korean intelligence.
The Telegraph reports that the alleged murder plot may have been the work of a faction loyal to Kim Yong-chol, a four-star general who was demoted last year to two stars before being restored to his previous rank and rehabilitated. While reports on the exact timing of the attack are sketchy, rumors of an exchange of gunfire in Pyongyang last November may be related to this incident.
More HERE.
North Korea amplified its threatening rhetoric as the U.N. Security Council approved new sweeping sanctions, vowing to launch a first-strike nuclear attack against the United States and threatening to engulf Washington in a "sea of fire."

An unidentified spokesman for Pyongyang's Foreign Ministry said the North will exercise its right for "a preemptive nuclear attack to destroy the strongholds of the aggressors" because Washington is pushing to start a nuclear war against the North.

At a mass rally in Pyongyang on Thursday, Army Gen. Kang Pyo Yong told the crowd that North Korea is ready to fire long-range nuclear-armed missiles at Washington.

"Intercontinental ballistic missiles and various other missiles, which have already set their striking targets, are now armed with lighter, smaller and diversified nuclear warheads and are placed on a standby status," Kang said. "When we shell (the missiles), Washington, which is the stronghold of evils, .... will be engulfed in a sea of fire."
White House spokesman Jay Carney said at a briefing that the U.S. is fully capable of defending itself after a North Korean missile attack.
